I think the video made a small mistake. I wouldn't say "whiz" is an adjective. It's actually a noun. :) One clue is that the example sentences uses articles ("a", "an", or "the") with the word "whiz". We can say "He is a whiz in math class", not "He is whiz in math class". That's one way to know that the word "whiz" is a noun and not an adjective. I hope that is helpful!?
