They are supposed to be cheesy and obvious. That is the point. It? is Oscar Wilde's style. If you ever had read or seen The Importance of Being Earnest you would understand that. He likes to make fun of society as well. These stories are hilarious.

In my opinion each of these stories teaches important life lessons.Parents decide what to read to their children and if they chose this, they most likely don't want to traumatize? them but to educate them. Life is cruel and sad and hurtful but if each of us gets the essence of these tales, the world might become a better place:)

Those tales traumatized me as a child. They are unnecessarily cheesy, schmaltzy, emotions-laden, and most absolutely cruel. Their poetry is one of decadence, despair and woe.? They are unsuitable for children. The world is certainly not a happy or easy place, but it's pointless to dress cruelty with tales of two shoes goodness being downtrodden. Oscar Wilde was a sadist, and a mannered hack. Baffles me that such stories are published as children's.
