Thank you very much for this introduction. I am now quite intrigued and feel that the rest of the book may be very entertaining. This book was often read in high schools back in the 1960s. ? However, we did not read it in any of my classes. Perhaps, I shall read the rest of it when you kind folks post it here. Please keep up the good work.

one of my favourite books. this caused a furore on publication, little did the public know that the book was semi autobiographal. thank you for? posting this. anyone who is introduced to mattie through this book ever forgets her.
