I checked to be sure on forvo.com and all of the people from England/Ireland/Australia said aDRESSS which makes sense to me as the word stress is closer to how it would be pronounced in the romantic languages which influenced English early on in its history. Canadians and Americans say Adresss and also aDDRESS.?

Yes, that's a tricky? one because Americans and Canadians say both Address and aDDRESS. Both are fine! If you are ever in doubt, you can always check the pronunciation on forvo.com

I had learned that Americans say aDDRESS, and British Address, and now you say the other way round... yes,? it's a labirynth... somebody, please... take me out of here, because I'm completly lost!
