The result of a naturally nasal speech defect ( I have sinus problems) and? a tiny non-professional recording setup over which I have little control - a tiny mic somewhere in the lid of my laptop. I'l try to use a cradled mic and a pop guard next time ;-)

I can? hear your snoring and the sound of the saliva, not the best one definitely. Hear it again, and the breathing. Can you hear it?

In an attempt to? compliment you I'll say: this sounds just like Alan Rickman reciting poetry!

Thank you. Also possibly the fastest? I'm through the poem itself (short version) in almost exactly 5 minutes - I did try to give a 'natural' sounding read with the? words running together, as English is spoken, rather than pronouncing each word separately, though the dodgy scansion did make this difficult in places.

Yours is officially the best reading on Youtube (I think I've listened to at least 30)! It just shows that was designed for a middle-class British accent, no other makes the? rhymes and scansion work! Regrettably the text you read is a bastardised version which introduced some odd changes, hence some of your comments. I did some research and found the author's really long 1929 version in the library which which I've played a bit and done a new reading. Your observations would be welcome ;-)

Thank you, and the short version is quite long enough, even if in places the scansion is? dodgy and it doesn't quite make sense. "Writing groats and saying grits?" - what's that all about? both words are spoken as they are spelled as far as I know.

Unforced errors... - 'Cloven' should be pronounced with a long o, i.e.'Clow-ven', not short, 'Cluv-en' - 'Viscous' pronounced incorrectly as 'viscious'. Doh! AN error I already corrected somebody else for! - gouge and gauge? - got it right on second attempt... - 'Eye, I, ay, aye,'- not 100% sure on this. ay, aye variants?
