Instead of bombarding kids with RULES, why not just illustrate and say the words along with their corresponding articles and then let learners HEAR and find the RULES for themselves? You haven't addressed why 'the' is sometimes pronounced 'thee' (as before words 'earth' and 'indian' and other times 'the' (schwa sound) and that 'a'? is sometimes pronounced 'ei' . Lastly, DID YOU NOTICE (be aware) that many native English speakers today will use 'a' even before words beginning in a vowel sound!
