The Dow Jones Industrial Average (the total, weighted price of the 30 stocks tracked by the DJIA Index) was $5000 a long time ago. Now it is about $10,000. The market has? gone up 100%. But inflation has gone up 300% so people have lost some "purchasing power"

what does 'the market goes up' mean exactly? higher quantity demanded? i think i got the inflation caused by shortage of resources + increased money supply (= higher demand). do people lose money on the stocks because inflation is so high people can't buy the products and the business? lose income. so less valuable on the stock market?

The? market, at best, goes up with money supply. At worst, like now, the money supply goes up while we run out of resources, inflation is high yet everyone loses money on stocks.

would you say stock markets are just a form of betting. like haha you didnt think the price would go up and look at what i just made you should have bet on it going? higher.

some people gamble.. some of us actually make? real money..

just go to a forex broker online and? open one, but most people lose all their money real fast. I don't recommend it.
