Borsch IS singular. Borsch is eaten by the Russians. Apples ARE eaten by? the English.

Explain me? please, Why did use "IS" eaten (not "ARE" eaten) in the second example. It seems the expresion "The RussianS" is a plural form

easy to understand. But the other tense forms failed and? I would say they are the most difficult in mustering english, such as the Continious Tenses, Anyway great job on it!
