North American English Pronunciation - /t/ sound deletion in /nt/

In recent years, I've noticed a very different way of pronouncing "nt" in words like Clinton, Manhattan, and even didn't. The best way I can describe it is to make a nasal sounding stop before the combination, then end with "in." Those words become Cli'in, Manha'in, and di'in. I've heard everybody from Chris Rock to Buddy Velastro use this combination, and I'm wondering if people who understand how language works have anything to say about it.?

Thank you very much for your video! This is very helpful! I lived in the south of the US a while ago (but I'm not American) and I always thought that omitting most 't' sounds was the? southern dialect. This is a new information for me.

As a Brit, this has always annoyed me. I'm not saying that there's any right or? wrong (language is defined by its use) but it has always come off as laziness to me (though this is a subconscious reaction - I know it's basically a prejudice).
