Hi Dears! Unfortunately, I confused "to break down" with "to break up" when writing the previous post. I meant to say that I had broken UP a file into smaller? pieces. Therefore, there appears a question - can these phrasal verbs be used interchangeably when we want to say that smth has to be separated into smaller pieces (a task, a thing, food etc)? Thanks a lot! -Borka

The other day I had to break down a file into smaller pieces. When discussing how it could be done with my american colleagues, I used the word "to split". They prefered to? use "to break down". I looked up that expression in the dictionary and learned by heart. Now with Your help I have solidified my knowledge of this phrasal verb :) Thanks a lot, Dear and beautifulhandsome ;) teachers! All the best!
